Enhanced Network Allows for Seamless Delivery of Brix's Services Coast-to-Coast

NEWARK, N.J. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Jan. 26, 2000 - Brix Communications, a unit of IDT Corporation (NASDAQ: IDTC - news), today announced the launch of its own nationwide network for voice and data transmission, furthering its goal of becoming the nation's leading provider of integrated telecommunications, Internet, and video services to tenants of residential multi-family properties coast-to-coast. Brix's network is supported by IDT, a leading international telecommunications and Internet Service Provider.

Brix will utilize 32 Dedicated Internet Points-of-Presence (POPs) and IDT's robust nationwide Internet backbone to deliver high-speed "always on" Internet connectivity and media services to tenants residing in residential properties of all types and sizes. Brix's access to IDT's national fiber optic voice network will enable it to provide long distance and local phone service at the most competitive rates in the country.

Brix's dedicated POPs are located in major markets across the country, including New York/New Jersey, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, San Jose, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. IDT's more than ten year's experience as a leading telecom carrier and Tier-1 Internet Service Provider gives Brix a solid base to build upon," said Howard Jonas, Chairman and CEO of IDT and Acting CEO of Brix Communications. Our competitors only know about the real estate side of the business," Jonas added. "What Brix brings to the table is IDT's solid track record of providing state-of-the-art telephony and Internet service. That background and expertise, along with our real estate partners' intimate knowledge of the marketplace, puts Brix in a class by itself." A"smart building" wired by Brix allows tenants to receive high-speed, dedicated Internet connectivity, low-cost long distance and local phone service, and high-quality digital broadcast satellite TV. The state-of-the-art, facilities-based infrastructure that Brix supplies is also equipped to handle next-generation technologies. Such services are not only an extremely attractive selling point for current and future tenants, but they also enhance the property value of a building, as well as provide the landlord with an additional source of revenues.
